Creativity

Creative projects using everyday things

April 10, 2026

Creative work does not require an expensive craft cupboard. Cardboard boxes, safe containers, paper offcuts, leaves, washable paint, dough, and large beads can open hours of thoughtful exploration.

Focus on the process instead of expecting every child to make the same finished product. Ask what they are creating, how they chose a colour, or what they might add next. This tells children that their ideas matter.

Keep safety and developmental readiness in mind, especially with small materials. Sit nearby, enjoy the conversation, and allow a little mess. The pride children feel when they invent something themselves is worth it.
